This groundbreaking material derives from sustainably sourced natural rubber and utilizes NFW's patented
plant-based curative. This combination allows for high-performance footwear soles without the need for
synthetic materials, marking a significant advancement in eco-friendly footwear technology.

Nowadays, approximately 70% of the 'rubber' produced is synthetic. The majority of shoe soles are made from
either 100% petroleum-based synthetic materials or contain a small amount (around 10-20%) of natural
rubber.
The production and use of petroleum-based rubber have significant negative environmental
impacts, from the extraction of fossil fuels for its production to ongoing microplastic pollution caused by
synthetic outsoles.
PLIANT™ offers a 100% biobased alternative that eliminates toxic chemicals and
microplastic pollution. It is derived from the sap of Hevea brasiliensis trees in responsibly managed
forests.
